Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer will focus on the core functions of network application and security support, maintenance, administration and reporting. The role will be roughly 40% projects and 60% operations. This individual will be required to apply solid technical and problem-solving skills in any situation. Through initiative and leadership, they will exercise these responsibilities in compliance with the company’s policies and standards along with industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Solid Data Center experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong knowledge of PAN firewalls
• Strong knowledge of both Cisco and any HP
• Strong Knowledge in BIGIP F5 Load Balancers
• Extensive Routing and Switching understanding
• Hands on experience and knowledge of network Security
• Designs and implements remote connectivity solutions including but not limited to IPSec VPN
• Professional certification in either vendor specific or industry standards in network or information security preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years directly related work experience in network, security administration/ engineering.
• Prior hands-on professional experience with Enterprise Class firewalls (Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco ASA), routers and network switchers. Linux experience is a plus.
• Apply knowledge to manage complex firewall policies that employ NAT, application layer gateways, and policy based VPNs
• Demonstrate a high level of understanding of the TCP/IP protocol (TCP and UDP)
• Working knowledge of network security, intrusion detection systems, authentication mechanisms, encryption technologies, and networking protocols including SMTP, HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and SNMP.
• Strong analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills are essential. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel both internally and externally; e.g. leadership, executives, clients, vendors, and agencies.
• Ability to work in and constructively contribute to team work environment and meet deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and follow through including the ability to document work. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information is essential.

Linux Administrator (3-5 Years of Experience)

Incident\Problem Management

o   Provide support for incident creation (ServiceNow)
o   Monitor queues for incidents to ensure proper validation and prioritization
o   Provide necessary alert notifications based on CLIENT Incident Management processes
o   Escalate incidents per CLIENT Incident Management processes
o   Open incident bridge for outages
o   Contact vendors and/or support partners per CLIENT Incident Management processes

Change Management

o   Provide support for change requests (ServiceNow)
o   Provide acknowledgement for change requests pending approval
o   Participate in scheduled CAB meetings
o   Ensure resource is assigned and notified of approved change requests
o   Maintain CMDB

Knowledge Management

o   Create incidents for creation of Knowledge Base articles by SME
o   Create incidents for updates or removal of Knowledge Base articles by SME
o   Provide training\awareness of updated Knowledge Base articles to support team

Operating System Builds

o   Maintain Operating System templates and versioning
o   Maintain documentation with detailed operating system configurations and library\software versions
o   Maintain patch level compliance within builds (security, bug-fix, application requirements, etc.)
o   Manage change management related to OS template configuration updates (UAT performance\load testing)

Server Monitoring (RHEL 7, Solaris & Windows 2008 R2+)

o   Configure alerting and reporting using built-in, 3rd party, and custom tools
o   Monitor server for availability and performance
o   Provide reports for SLA compliance
o   Monitor resource utilization
o   Provide reports for capacity planning
o   Monitor logs for exceptions

Server Administration (RHEL 7, Solaris & Windows 2008 R2+)

o   Manage scripts and automation tasks for deploying servers
o   Manage scripts and automation tasks for user access
o   Participate in server optimization efforts (physical, virtual, OS)
o   Provide incident\problem resolution for availability, performance, and access
o   Maintain Knowledge Management for monitoring and administration related activities (Confluence documentation)
o   Maintain patch level compliance for active servers (security, bug-fix, application requirements, etc.)
o   Manage change management related to software and configuration updates (UAT performance\load testing)
o   Participate in scheduled CAB meetings as required
